How to Set a Proxy in Postman

Postman can route requests through a custom proxy, which is handy for checking how an API answers users in another country.

Steps

  1. Open Settings, then Proxy
  2. Turn on Use custom proxy configuration and pick HTTP and HTTPS
  3. Enter the gateway host and port, then turn on Proxy auth with your username and password
  4. Send a request to an IP echo service to check the exit country

Example code

Proxy server: gw.gbproxies.cc
Port: 10000
Proxy auth: on
Username: USERNAME-cc-it
Password: PASSWORD

Replace USERNAME and PASSWORD with the proxy login from the Proxies page of the console. Port 10000 is residential HTTP; see the ports of every product below.

Tips

  • Change the country code in the username to test another market
  • Turn the proxy off again when you test local APIs

Common questions
